It operates on Pascal's Law, which states that pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted equally in all directions. This principle allows a small manual input force to generate a large output force at the ram.
The press consists of a rigid steel frame, hydraulic cylinder, hand-operated pump, ram, pressure release valve, and an adjustable work table. When the hand lever is pumped, hydraulic fluid is pressurized and drives the ram downward to act on the workpiece. Releasing the pressure valve safely returns the ram to its original position.
